Wadajir Somali Community Centre
The aims of Wadajir are to facilitate social integration and community cohesion, increase skills and build capacity to improve economic opportunities. Most of our users live in Poplar, Limehouse and Bow, where our community is estimated to be 3,500 strong. Our services have been requested by our users.
The charity’s objects are to improve the quality of life, through the advancement of: • Educational activities
• The provision of social, cultural and recreational activities through the following current activities: • Older people activities (lunch clubs for 25 elderly per session x 4 sessions per week)
• Supplementary School for Children (25 children per session per week)
• Children and Youth recreational activities (the girls and Boys ' club sees 20 girls weekly)
• General support, information, advocacy and outreach (seeing 8-10 per day) - run with qualify advice work
• Accredited training – Level 1 and 2 – Health and Social Care (30 graduates in the last year)
• Employment scheme. East London Community foundation
