Tower Hamlets Friends and Neighbours
THFN provides a lifeline for vulnerable, isolated, older people, the majority of whom are housebound, and have at least one chronic, medical and mental health issue.
Each of the 200+ clients we support each year receives a FREE befriending and advocacy service designed to meet their individual needs and enable them to overcome the barriers of loneliness, disadvantage, medical, cultural or issues around their own ‘confidence’.
Our experienced teams of Befriender Advocates and Befriender volunteers are all trained to visit people in their own homes, giving them social contact and companionship, as well as providing activities that improve their mental and physical well - being. Our staff and volunteers speak a range of languages including Bengali, Sylheti, Somali, Arabic, Polish, French, Hebrew, Hindi and Patois.
Staff and volunteers are all DBS-checked.
We do not provide respite care, sitting services, escort only services, personal care, shopping or housework services, specialist legal, financial or other advice.
