Community Equipment Service
The Community Equipment Service (CES) provide equipment to people with a disability, the elderly or those with a long-term illness, that have difficulties coping with daily living tasks such as dressing, washing, bathing or preparing meals. The equipment is intended to make tasks or activities easier to do.
As well as Occupational Therapists, health professionals such as physiotherapists, speech and language therapists, district nurses or health visitors may prescribe equipment. Once prescribed, the equipment is issued and delivered by Medequip Assistive Technology Ltd who is the leading provider of community equipment services to local authorities and the NHS across the UK.
Equipment is provided on a loan basis, free of charge, to residents of Tower Hamlets. The service also collects items no longer needed, then cleans and repairs the equipment for reuse.
For collection and repairs, Medequip can be contacted on 0208 709 7050.
For emergency out of hours repairs contact Cygnet on 0208 573 2871.
